ADHD Week September 2009

The Daniel Delicata Memorial Association aims to improve the quality of life of sick children. Since we started our organisation six years ago, we have come across children who suffer from ADHD. This condition is biological and apart from the difficulties it creates for the child who has the condition, it also creates stress for the parents and siblings as well as anyone coming in regular contact with the ADHD child. We have also met children receiving psychiatric assistance because of their condition at the Young People’s Unit in Attard and we would like to take this opportunity to manifest our support to the ADHD Family Support Group by asking you to participate and, if possible, sponsor their activities. Football Marathon, Marsa Sports Grounds, April 20th-23rd

The Puttinu Cares Children’s Cancer Support Group organised a football marathon at the Marsa Sports Grounds where 5-a-side and 7-a-side matches were played. More details soon.

Fund-Raising Activities, Easter 2007

For the third consecutive year, the Msida M.L.P. club and other Msida organizations are organized an Easter fund-raising activity in aid of the association. This activity consisted of an exhibition of scared art and other sacred objects (Wirja ta'Vari, Cenaklu u Oggetti Sagri" and was held between the 29th March and 7th April more details in the near future.

Lampuka - A Mermaid in Malta, November 2006

This year's fund-raising event to celebrate our late son’s 9th birthday took the form of a play by a group of actors "Nonsuch Players" (http://www.nonsuchplayers.org). This play was performed the Melita Gardens Restaurant in Balzan and treated the story of a mermaid who ends up in Malta!  The story is set in the 1920’s and goes like this:

While fishing alone in Gozo newly married Dr. Paul Kindersley falls overboard and hits his head on a rock. He is rescued by a mysterious and beautiful woman who comforts him for a night. By way of thanks, he offers her a day in  Malta and a night at the opera. His wife, Nardya and friends, the Rev. Dumas, Gerard and Frieda, two artist and Pierre, a violist are eagerly awaiting his arrival with the special guest. All goes swimmingly until time starts to run out – after all she is a fish out of water!

The event run on three days was a great success and an opportunity for socializing in relaxed and informal atmosphere. A generous sum of LM368.50 was collected. The money will go towards the association's ongoing projects.

Angel Aid Concert, Porto Fino Bar and Restaurant, 29th July 2006

The "Angel Aid" concert which was held on Saturday 29th July at Porto Fino Bar & Restaurant in Xemxija was an amazing success. A variety of local celebrity singers coloured the evening with their talent and kept the audience entertained. The evening was hosted by Hector Bruno who also shared jokes with the audience and kept the evening flowing like a breeze. The event was slightly marred by an anonymous neighbour who kept complaining about the sound as early as 10pm. This was in spite of the fact that police permits had been duly taken care of. A total amount of Lm1,500 was collected from this event and this money will go towards the purchase of three air-condition units and computers for the Young People’s Unit of Attard. This includes a generous donation of Lm300 from a benefactor who wishes to remain anonymous.

The evening was brought to a grand finale by the song "Angel Eyes" which was sung by Maronnia, who was the main organizer of this concert. A special video to this song was launched yesterday and could be viewed by all those who were present.

Charity-bowling tournament, 16th May 2006

Malta Communications Authority (MCA), together with the communications industry presented ten PlayStations to the Daniel Delicata Memorial Association.  The PlayStations, which will go to the Disneyland ward at Karin Grech Hospital, were purchased with funds collected through a charity-bowling tournament that was recently organised by the MCA during which a staggering LM600 was collected.
